The Upsiderz are an all-star power trio and production/songwriting team featuring three veterans of the Los Angeles music community - guitarist Joshua Lopez, percussionist Davey Chegwidden and vocalist Malik “the FreQ” Moore. Upsiderz music combines the best of modern dancefloor production with the heart and soul of classic songwriting to create a truly unique blend of high-energy “Future Soul.” Their genre-bending sound can simultaneously straddle the musical universes of Stevie Wonder, Kaytranada, Justice, Childish Gambino, Gorillaz, and Prince.

Individually the Upsiderz are grammy nominated songwriters, producers, and musicians who have worked with hundreds of artists both popular and underground including De La Soul, Harry Styles, Black Eyed Peas, Father John Misty, Barrington Levy, Nikka Costa, Aloe Blacc, Tyler the Creator, Estelle, Macy Gray, Rihanna and many others.

Joshua and Davey have been making music together since Joshua’s parent’s basement in early nineties Denver. They both ended up moving to LA at different times and then reconnecting to work on a variety of projects. Davey came across LA native Malik in the trenches of the LA underground playing with reggae supergroup The Lions.They ended up rooming together at a reggae festival and Malik played Davey a song he was working on called “Action Satisfaction.” Davey thought of Josh immediately to collaborate on the song. The three of them got together in a room a week later and the energy was so good that the Upsiderz were formed. Their debut single “Action Satisfaction” is scheduled for release in July 2024 and a full 6 song EP is set for an early 2025 release.
